36 Weeks and Counting!

My weekly email said my son’s skin is soft and smooth, and his liver, kidneys, circulation system, and immune system are all developed and ready for the world. Only Rock’s lungs are still in need of fully maturing. We will be praying for his lung development throughout the next week BECAUSE…I’m scheduled to be induced next Thursday evening (10/28)!!! They’ll start the process on Thursday night (with a drug called Cervidil) and then start Pitocin (to get contractions going) on Friday morning. The doctor warned me to expect a LONG labor/delivery with the induction (like 24-36 hours LONG!) since it’s early in my pregnancy and it’s my first delivery. We’re getting close now!

The past week has been much better (schedule wise) than many weeks recently. A great friend came over on Friday to help me unpack all of the nursery necessities for Rock’s room. And Saturday, Phil and I found two major scores at garage sales in our neighborhood…a baby swing and a fabulous Pack N Play, which will come in handy soon! Rock’s Monday NST appointment went really well. And the specialist appointment today went well too. My fluid level was at 7 AFI and Rock scored an 8/8 on his biophysical profile. They also did a growth ultrasound (which will likely be the final ultrasound of my pregnancy) and Rock is estimated to be 4lbs 11oz which only put him in the 5th percentile. I hope the doctors are underestimating his size and he pops out bigger than we’re expecting! But as long as he’s healthy, we’ll be thrilled!!!

Other than that, we’re just trying to get lots of ‘honey do’ projects done in the next week before our focus turns wholeheartedly to being new parents. We are both SO excited!!!
