Another BIG day today! Not only did I get my weekly email telling us the baby is the size of a navel orange (4 in., 2.5 oz.), we also got to hear the baby’s heartbeat at my 15 week doctor appointment! The heartbeat was 156 bpm!!! Phil got a great video of it! The nurse explained that a strange noise we kept hearing (sounded like static interrupting the heartbeat) was the baby moving and hitting the Doppler sound reader. That was really fun!!!
Yesterday I felt a strange new feeling really low in the middle of my tummy. I tried to research whether it might be the baby moving, but it’s hard to tell this early. Even the doctor explained the earliest she’s really heard of is 14 weeks, and I’m 15 weeks today. So who knows…maybe it was nothing, but if it WAS the first movement I felt, I wanted to make sure to document it (it happened on 5/26/2010).
The doctor also warned me that I’ll need to remove my belly button ring or use a maternity belly ring at some point…which I didn’t know existed. Phil researched them for me and I think that’s what I’ll use. I’m not willing to give up my youth just yet. I got my belly button pierced the day it became legal when I turned 18!
Our next appointment is scheduled for Wednesday, June 30th. It will be my 20 week appointment and we’ll have an ultrasound and hope to find out the sex of the baby!!! Prayerfully, we’ll have more good news to report after that appointment!
